The Nairne & Districts Lions Club is proud to partner with local wildlife carers in the creation of our Wildlife Rescue Kits. These kits have been thoughtfully designed to empower community members to act quickly in the face of a wildlife emergency. The items in the kit are endorsed by experienced wildlife carers and provide an immediate, safe solution for assisting animals in need. The inclusion of detailed instructions ensures that rescuers can act with confidence, even in high-pressure situations.

What the Contents Are Used For

Emergency wildlife carry bag: A waterproof bag used to safely transport injured animals and to hold all kit items together.

Small possum pouch: Provides a safe and comfortable space for injured possums, mimicking the warmth and safety of a mother's pouch.

Scissors: Essential for cutting open the pouch, removing debris, cutting teats when necessary or dealing with tangled materials.

Hand sanitiser: Keeps rescuers’ hands clean to prevent the spread of diseases.

Disposable gloves & apron: Used to protect both the rescuer and the animal from potential contaminants during handling.

Safety pin & ziplock bag: Used for attaching teats to the pillow slip in cases of deceased kangaroos, where their joeys are fused to the teat and need to be carefully transferred.
